The Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen
The announcement was made at a Beijing press conference yesterday with producer Gordon Chan (陳嘉上) and co-star Anthony Wong (黃秋生) also in attendance.
The film sees the arrival in a small town of a mysterious stranger who befriends a local mafia boss. The stranger is disguised as Chen Zhen, the fictional martial arts hero conceived by Hong Kong's Ni Kuang (倪匡) and who first made an on-screen appearance in 1972 Bruce Lee (李小龍) vehicle Fist of Fury (精武門).
Producers Media Asia (寰亞電影有限公司) and Enlight Pictures also confirmed the other cast members as including Huang Bo (黃渤), Shawn Yue (余文樂), Zhou Yang (周揚), Huo Siyan (霍思燕), Kohata Ryu (木幡龍) and Kurata Yasuaki (倉田保昭).
1 Oct is China's National Day holiday and one of the biggest cinema-going period of the year. Other films set to release in the same season include Tsui Hark's (徐克) Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame (狄仁杰之通天帝國) and Jiang Wen's (姜文) Let the Bullets Fly (讓子彈飛).
