China release for Inception moves up

Inception's release date in China has been advanced by three weeks to the beginning of September.
The sci-fi thriller will now go out on 2 Sept, instead of the previously indicated 21 Sept, with China Film Group (中國電影集團公司) handling it on behalf of Warner Bros.
Yuan Wenqiang (袁文強), an executive who oversees imports for the state-owned company reported that the film has already cleared Chinese censors.
The move seems designed to avoid the highly crowded space at the end of September, when China is gearing up for the Mid Autumn festival (22 Sept) and the 'golden week' that begins with the 1 Oct National Day.
Releasing into such a crowded slot had seemed like an unwise gamble for both the film and for exhibitors (See: Inception China release is big gamble).
