Singapore distributor Clover Films has struck deals giving it more than a dozen new Asian titles for release in 2011.
Most recent deal was an agreement with China's Huayi Brothers (華誼兄弟) for a package of four high-profile films. It booked Singapore and Malaysia rights on the Feng Xiaogang-directed (馮小剛) If You Are The One II (非誠勿擾2, pictured), 2-D animation Old Master Q and Little Ocean Tiger (老夫子之小水虎傳奇), Painted Skin 2 (畫皮2) and Underground Resistance (時空地道), starring Huang Xiaoming (黃曉明).
The last three months have also seen deals with Media Asia (寰亞電影有限公司) for Singapore rights to Johnnie To's (杜琪峰) Don't Go Breaking My Heart (單身男女), Andrew Lau's (劉偉強) A Beautiful Life (美麗人生) and Law Wing-cheong's (羅永昌) Punished (報應).
For Singapore only, it acquired All's Well Ends Well 2011 (最強囍事2011) from producer-director Raymond Wong's (黃百鳴) Pegasus Motion Pictures (天馬電影), and Thai titles Brown Sugar (น้ำตาลแดง) and Who Are You (ใคร... ในห้อง), both from Sahamongkolfilm International (สหมงคลฟิล์ม).
Clover acquired Singapore and Malaysia rights from Shaw Studios to Eric Tsang's (曾志偉) I Love Hong Kong (我愛HK開心萬歲) and Singapore and Malaysia rights to horror film My Ex (แฟนเก่า, RS Films) and action title Bangkok Knockout (โคตรสู้ โคตรโส, from Sahamongkolfilm).
The company was formed this time last year and has already released titles including Reign Of Assassins (劍雨), Ocean Heaven (海洋天堂), A Woman A Gun & A Noodle Shop (三槍拍案驚奇), Ice Kacang Puppy Love (初戀紅豆冰) and Perfect Wedding (完美嫁衣). It will release Korean box office hit A Better Tomorrow (무적자) later this month.
