Colette Koo (顧美玲), Hong Kong-based impresario, died on Monday in Hong Kong following complications relating to the cancer she had been battling for over a year.
Colette saw the early part of her film career in the UK working as costume designer and wardrobe assistant, before a change of direction made her an actress in several TV series including Backup.
Latterly, she established Hippopotamus Films and became a producer of films including Wushu (武術之少年行), directed by her long-time partner Antony Szeto (司徒永華).
A natural socialite, she also turned her hand to yet another part of the entertainment scene. She managed the successful Drop night club and co-founded the FINDS restaurant in Hong Hong's Lan Kwai Fong.
Colette was never less than a source of inspiration and a wonderful friend to the people around her. She will be painfully missed.
Our condolences to Antony and her loyal family.
