Radiohead band member Jonny Greenwood will provide the score for upcoming Norwegian Wood (ノルウェイの森).
The film directed by Tran Anh Hung is an adaptation of Haruki Murakami's (村上春樹) best-selling novel of the same title with a cast headlined by award-winning actors Matsuyama Kenichi (松山ケンイチ) and Kikuchi Rinko (菊地凛子).
"Once we had the first cut, it became clear that this film needed Jonny Greenwood's music. I've always admired his work. What he did besides Radiohead for P.T. Anderson and 'Bodysong' was just awesome," said Tran in a statement. Greenwood composed the music for Anderson's There Will Be Blood.
The film is produced by Asmik Ace Entertainment (アスミック・エース) and Fuji Television Network (フジテレビジョン) with Fortissimo Films as sales agent. Ready for delivery by Cannes, Norwegian Wood has been acquired by Lusomundo for Portugal, Vertigo for Spain, Serenity Entertainment International for Taiwan (山水國際娛樂股份有限公司), P.C.V.S.A. for Greece, Mongkol Cinema (มงคลภาพยนตร์) for Thailand, Lumiere for Benelux, Edko Films (安樂影片有限公司) for Hong Kong, CP Digital for CIS and Cathay-Keris Films for Singapore and Brunei.
