Fox International Productions' Chinese-language film Hot Summer Days (全城熱戀) will move into theatrical release in the US at the end of the week.
It will have a platform outing at the Quad Cinema in New York on 1 Oct, and an outing at the Laemmle 3 in Beverly Hills on 8 Oct.
The limited release will be followed by a launch on Fox's Fox.com video-on-demand service. It was the first Chinese film to be backed by Fox International Productions and will be the first Chinese-language feature on Fox.com.
The film performed strongly in February in Chinese theatres, where it doubled up as both a Chinese New Year title and a Valentine's Day title. But its theatrical potential was seen as essentially local and it scored weakly even in Hong Kong from where its directors Tony Chan (陳國輝) and Wing Shya (夏永康) hail.
