Kara HUI 惠英紅 and Collin CHOU 鄒兆龍 will head the cast of Nuptials of the Dead, a supernatural horror film that will be filmed this August by US-based writer-director Maya LIM.

The Chinese-language feature is an expansion of a short that Lim previously wrote and directed, about the ancient Chinese practice of 'Ghost Marriages'. The story focuses on a young woman who searches for a ghost mate for her own dead daughter's spirit, only to have a curse place on them.

It will be jointly financed and produced by Nandita SOLOMON and Dain Iskandar SAID's Apparat Sdn Bhd and Tim KWOK 郭少麟's Convergence Entertainment (pictured right to left). It will be shot in Kuala Lumpur. Opus Pictures Co Ltd 오퍼스 픽처스' LEE Tae-hun 이태헌 (The Man from Nowhere 아저씨 (2010), Sympathy for Lady Vengeance 친절한 금자씨 (2005)) serves as executive producer. Hong Kong's Distribution Workshop Ltd 發行工作室有限公司 is set as the foreign sales representative.

Apparat and Convergence previously worked together on Bunohan: Return to Murder Bunohan (2011). Apparat is attending Hong Kong with its project (Un)Making the Betrayal, to be directed by Said at this year's Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF) 香港亞洲電影投資會 project market.

After a career hiatus Hui won best actress awards for her role in HO Yu Hang 何宇恆's At the End of Daybreak 心魔 (2009) and has since been seen in A Chinese Ghost Story 倩女幽魂 (2011), Wu Xia 武俠 (2011) and upcoming horror Blood Stained Shoes 繡花鞋. Chou is next seen in The Four 四大名捕 and Beijing Enlight Pictures Co Ltd 北京光線影業有限公司' The Five 五星上將.
