Inception scores on HK opening

Inception proved its potency at the box office in Hong Kong yesterday, where it was released two weeks after some Asian territories.
The film achieved first day takings of HK$2.5 million ($322,000) from 70 venues. Including previews that gives it a cumulative total of HK$3.31 million ($427,000) before the weekend.
It eased Toy Story 3 off the top and into second place, where with 67 theatres it clocked a further HK$1.50 million ($193,000) for a 15 day total of HK$63.8 million ($8.22 million).
Aftershock (唐山大地震), in third place, managed HK$554,000 ($71,500) from 23 sites and a cumulative of HK$6 million ($774,000) in eight days. Salt, in fourth, has licked up HK$8.7 million ($1.12 million) in the same period.
The week's other openers Doraemon (映画ドラえもん のび太の人魚大海戦), My Rainy Days (天使の恋) and Letters to Juliet scored HK$260,000 ($33,800), HK$140,000 ($18,000) and HK$102,000 ($13,200) respectively.
