China Lion Film Distribution Inc will co-distribute the Chinese film Love in Space 全球熱戀 (2011) in North America, Australia and New Zealand alongside Fox International Productions. China Lion is also branching into the UK, where it will handle 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy 3D肉蒲團之極樂寶鑑 (2011).

Love In Space is set for release in China on 9 September 2011, and will be given a day-and-date release through China Lion's deal with AMC Entertainment Inc for the US and Toronto and with Cineplex Entertainment in Vancouver.

The film is the follow up by directors Wing SHYA 夏永康 and Tony CHAN 陳國輝 to their FIP and Huayi Brothers Media Corporation 華誼兄弟傳媒股份有限公司-backed Hot Summer Days 全城熱戀 (2010). The co-distribution of Love In Space is a repeat to the alliance that this year released Wuershan 烏爾善's stylised martial arts thriller The Butcher, the Chef and the Swordsman 刀見笑 (2010) in North America.

Separately, China Lion has acquired UK and Ireland rights to 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy, the soft core film that was a box office hit this year in its native Hong Kong.

It will be released in the UK on 2 September in a deal with UK cinema chain Odeon. China Lion has teamed with local distributor Metrodome Distribution which will handle ancillary releases and will help manage the theatrical outing.

Rights to the film are handled by Hong Kong production and sales company Pegasus Motion Pictures Distribution Ltd 天馬電影製作有限公司.

"We believe with exclusive partners of the quality of Odeon Cinemas and Metrodome not only will we be successful with 3D Sex and Zen, but we'll lay the foundations for future China Lion releases," said China Lion CEO, Milt BARLOW.

China Lion will release 3D Sex and Zen on 12 August in North America, using independent and art house cinemas in the US and Cineplex in Canada.
