New film projects by Partho Sen Gupta (pictured, who previously directed Let The Wind Blow) and Satish Manwar (The Damned Rain) are among the dozen projects to be supported at the Locarno festival (3-13 Aug 2011) this year.

The festival's Open Doors workshop section (69 Aug 2011) received over 200 submissions for the 12 available places. It will present the projects, provide them mentoring and introduce them to potential financiers and distributors.

First prize from the Open Doors section is worth CHF50,000 ($57,700) with two additional prizes of Euros7,000 ($10,400) and Euros6,000 ($8,900).
