Thai film Mundane History (เจ้านกกระจอก) added to its festival award haul Saturday when it was the top prize winner at the 2010 Transilvania International Film Festival (28 May-6 June) in Romania.
Director Anocha Suwichakornpong (อโนชา สุวิชากรพงษ์) received the Transilvania Trophy from European Film Academy president, director Wim Wenders at a ceremony at the National Theater in Cluj-Napoca (pictured).
The jury said that it appreciated the film's "unconventional structure and eclectic use of images in [a] moving story, showing the underlying themes of how painful life can be and the fact that people need one another despite being on different social levels".
Florin Serban's If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle was named as the best local Romanian feature.
This year's edition of Transilvania IFF screened a record 240 films from 47 countries and involved more than 480 Romanian and foreign guests.
