Iranian film A Separation (Jodaeiye Nader az Simin, pictured) by Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, and Once Upon a Time in Anatolia (Bir Zamanlar Anadolu'da), written and directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, each received four nominations for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).

The nominations shortlist was unveiled in Busan on Monday night. Both films are among the five nominated for best film, along with Let the Bullets Fly 讓子彈飛 (2010) (China), Goodbye (Bé Omid É Didar, Iran) and Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) (India).

A Separation also claimed nominations for Farhadi, as writer and director and for actor Peyman Moadi. Anatolia's other nominations are for directing (Ceylan), cinematography (Gökhan Tiryaki) and screenplay (Ercan Kesal, Ebru Ceylan, Nuri Bilge Ceylan).

Organisers said that a total of 240 films were entered into this year's competition and that they selected 37 across the 13 awards categories.

Winners will be selected by a jury headed by Hong Kong producer Nansun SHI 施南生 and announced at the Ceremony on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, on 24 Nov.
