Thailand's Shellhut Entertainment and Singapore's Tiny Island Productions have re-teamed to produce a 3-D stereoscopic CGI film based on Shellhut's Shelldon character.

According to Singapore's Media Development Authority, the firms have secured finance for the $20 million-budget picture, which is scheduled for delivery in 2012.

Shellhut and Tiny Island previously produced the Shelldon series whose 26-part first season has been aired worldwide, including on NBC in the US and France 5 in France. Worldwide distribution rights (excluding Thailand and with shared representation in Japan and Korea) of the Shelldon TV Series were handled by Entertainment Rights Plc, a UK company which recently went into liquidation. ER's UK trading subsidiary was sold to the US group Classic Media. A sales agent for the feature has not been announced.

"With its richly imaginative sets and introduction of new characters, the film is targeted to appeal to the broader family entertainment audience," said the MDA. "Plans are also underway to bring in additional creative partners from Japan, China and the US."

The '3D auto-stereoscopic' content of season one episodes of Shelldon were developed in association with Alioscopy Singapore, a provider of glasses-free 3D solutions.

Shellhut Entertainment is a subsidiary of Shellhut Co Ltd, a major shell-craft manufacturer and exporter.
