Ann HUI 許鞍華's A Simple Life 桃姐 (2011) has won the Grand Prix for Best Eurasian film at the 15th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (16-30 Nov 2011) in Estonia.
The film's main actress, Deanie IP 葉德嫻, also won the prize for best actress. Ip previously won acting awards for her role in the drama at the Venice International Film Festival and Golden Horse Awards 金馬獎.
The jury prize for "outstanding performance in cinematic language" was awarded to Cocco and TSUKAMOTO Shinya 塚本晋也 for their roles in front of the camera on Kotoko KOTOKO (2011).
The two films were among 18 selected in the festival's Official Competition EurAsia, including Michel Hazanavicius' The Artist, and Aditi ROY's At the End of It All Abosheshey (2011) from India.
Approximately 30 Asian feature films screened at the 15-day festival.
