There is not much that is not English-language at the South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) (9-17 Mar 2012), but the Asia Pacific region has some representation.

The increasingly influential film and music event in Austin, Texas includes Daniel NETTHEIM's The Hunter and Catherine Scott's sex worker documentary Scarlet Road both from Australia. From Indonesia is Gareth Huw EVANS' The Raid Serbuan maut (pictured).

The main competition includes Asian-themed Eden, by Megan Griffiths about a Korean-American woman forced into prostitution. It stars Jamie Chung and Beau Bridges. Another section includes The Taiwan Oyster 台灣牡蠣, directed by Mark JARRETT, about teachers who return from the US to Taiwan to bury a colleague.
