The Tokyo International Film Festival 東京国際映画祭 (22-30 October 2011) has announced Jackie CHAN 成龍's 1911 辛亥革命 (2011) as its second opening film.
Having previously announced The Three Musketeers (2011) as the opening film, the festival describes 1911 as a 'Special Opening Film' and says this is the first time that it has had two openers.
Chan stars in the film as military commander Huang Xing (黃興) and is named as the picture's general director alongside director ZHANG Li 張黎. 1911 is a story of the revolution in China that overthrew the old imperial regime and highlights Sun Yat-sen's links to Japan. Other cast members include LI Bingbing 李冰冰, Winston CHAO 趙文瑄, Joan CHEN 陳沖 and Jaycee CHAN 房祖名.
1911 will be released in Japan by Toei Company Ltd 東映 on 5 November. The film is currently scheduled to open in China on 23 September.
