Vancouver shines on Sun

SONTHAR Gyal 松太加's Tibetan road movie The Sun Beaten Path 太陽總在左邊 (2010) has won the $10,000 Dragons & Tigers Award at the 30th Vancouver International Film Festival.
The jury, composed of producer Simon FIELD and film directors YANG Ik-june 양익준 and Ann HUI 許鞍華, praised its "remarkable cinematic qualities, and its ability to tell a moving story with complex emotions through one face and one landscape."
It presented two Special Mentions to Eduardo ROY Jr.'s Baby Factory Bahay bata (2011) for its "candour and directness" and NAGANO Yoshihiro 永野義弘's Recreation Recreation (2010) for its "unique atmosphere of ennui mixed with apprehension".
Since its debut at the Hong Kong International Film Festival 香港國際電影節 in March, Sun has competed at the Shanghai International Film Festival 上海國際電影節, Locarno Film Festival | Festival del film Locarno and Cinema Digital Seoul Film Festival.
