The new film is the first to involve the Singapore branch of STAR Chinese Movies (SCM) 衛視電影台 as a co-producer. The $1.2 million ($946,000) film is backed by Clover Films Pte Ltd, Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd, Mega Cineplex Sdn Bhd, Asia Tropical Films Sdn Bhd and Hong Kong's Universe Entertainment Ltd 寰宇娛樂有限公司 as well as SCM.
To be directed again by Malaysian director Adrian TEH 鄭建國, the sequel sees the return of Malaysian singer-actor-director Aniu 阿牛, Hong Kong star Elanne KWONG 江若琳, award-winning actress Kara HUI 惠英紅 and Singapore veteran actors Jack CHOO 朱厚任 and Marcus CHIN 陳建彬. They are joined by Taiwan's Cynthia Ruby WANG 王心如.
Filming locations will take in Singapore, Penang and Kuala Lumpur. The film is expected to be ready for release during the Chinese New Year holidays and Valentine's Day season in February 2013. It will be co-distributed in Singapore by Clover Films and Golden Village Pictures Pte Ltd, and distributed in Malaysia by GSC Movies Sdn Bhd.
"We are grateful for this opportunity to extend our relationship with Clover Films from licensing to co-productions," said Cora Yim, VP of programming for Chinese Entertainment Channels at Fox International Channels. "We are especially excited as this will be our first co-produced film under the new recently rebranded SCM in Singapore."
The first instalment will be released theatrically in September in Hong Kong by Intercontinental Film Distributors (HK) Ltd 洲立影片發行（香港）有限公司.
